Reyrolles Sportsfield

Ian Robson tells us that the two photos are of the Reyrolle Interdepartmental knockouts which took place every year until the mid-seventies. This match involved the Toolroom. The top photo shows Ian's brother Alan Robson third from the left with his back to camera (- wearing lighter shorts and black socks.) On the bottom photo he recognises the first player on the left as Geoff Haswell. Both Alan and Geoff worked in the toolroom until the late seventies.

Peter Playle tells us that the picture was taken during the final of the 1968 Reyrolle inter department knockout cup between the Newtown works Jig & Tool drawing office and the Hebburn works Engineering department for whom he was playing, Peter is the tall slim player closest too and with his back to the camara. The Jig & Tool lads lost that game but got their revenge the following year winning in a repeat of the 1968 final.
